What Is Papaya POS and Why Integrate with VEXiON cards?

Papaya POS is a Slovak POS system designed for the gastro segment. Hundreds of cafes, restaurants, bars, and bistros across Slovakia use it – from Bratislava establishments like La Donuteria, Hollerung, Bounty Boho, Crustoria or Koun, to venues in other regions.

The system runs on Android devices and offers everything a gastro business needs: POS, mobile waiters, inventory management, payment terminals, and eKasa. Now you can add an automated loyalty program on top.

Papaya POS on their loyalty systems page lists VEXiON cards as an officially integrated solution – along with features like PUSH notifications, customer data collection, and personalized campaigns.

You know how it goes – a customer comes in, orders, and you ask about their paper punch card. Either they forgot it, lost it, or it's so worn out you can't tell how many stamps they have. With VEXiON cards and Papaya integration, this problem disappears.

The customer has their card in their phone – in Apple Wallet or Google Pay. When paying, they show it, staff scans it on the POS, and the system automatically adds stamps, points or applies a discount. No manual counting, no paper cards, no extra work.

How Does Scanning Work on Papaya POS?

The entire process is designed to be as simple as possible. Staff doesn't need to learn anything new – they just need to know how to scan a QR code.

Step by Step

Step 1: Enter the order into Papaya POS as usual. Add coffee, food, whatever the customer ordered.
Step 2: When the customer is ready to pay, click the "ZLAVA/PRIRAZKA" (Discount/Surcharge) button in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Scan the customer's QR code from their phone (Apple Wallet or Google Wallet) using a physical scanner or click the scanning icon (scanner/camera icon) if your POS has a built-in camera.
Step 4: A message appears in the middle bottom part of the screen with information. How many stamps or points the customer earned, their current balance, or what discount or cashback was applied.
Step 5: Complete the payment as usual.

That's all. Stamps are assigned automatically. Points are added automatically. Cashback and discounts are processed when the card is scanned. Staff doesn't need to make any decisions or enter anything.

Three Card Types: Stamps, Cashback, and Discounts

With Papaya integration, you can currently use three types of loyalty cards. Each is suitable for different scenarios.

Stamp Card – The Classic That Works

The most popular type of loyalty card. Customers collect stamps for purchases and receive a reward after reaching a set number.

How it works in practice:

  1. Customer buys coffee → gets 1 stamp

  2. Next time they buy another → they have 2 stamps

  3. They keep collecting...

  4. When they have 10 stamps and scan the card → the cheapest item on the bill is automatically free

  5. Stamps reset and customer starts collecting again

The system always automatically selects the cheapest product on the bill that's included in the loyalty program. Neither staff nor customer needs to do anything extra.

Points Card with Cashback – Money Back for Purchases

Cashback is the most flexible type of loyalty program. Customers get a small portion of their spending back as points. These points accumulate and the customer can redeem them as a cash discount on a future purchase.

Why cashback works so well:

  • Customers keep coming back because their "credit is growing" in the form of points

  • Unlike stamps, it works on all products at once

  • Points are automatically converted to a cash discount when redeemed

  • Simple for staff – the system handles everything

How it works in practice:

  1. Customer buys Cappuccino for €3.20 → gets 6 points

  2. Next time buys Latte for €3.50 → gets 7 points. Balance: 13 points

  3. Customer keeps collecting with every purchase

  4. When they've accumulated enough points, they redeem cashback and the points are converted to a cash discount from the bill

  5. For example: with 300 points and buying a Cappuccino for €3.20, the cashback is applied and the customer pays less

  • Collection message: "Balance: €0.13 | +7 points (1 of 2 products)"

  • Cashback message: "Cashback -€3.00 | Balance: €0.50"

Higher-priced products earn more points, so the customer is fairly rewarded for larger purchases.

Ideal for: Restaurants, cafes with higher average spending, venues where you want to reward total purchases

Discount Card – Reward for Regular Customers

Discount cards work on a tier system. The more a customer spends in total, the higher tier and discount they get.

How it works in practice:

  1. Customer starts at Bronze tier with 5% discount

  2. When they spend a total of €100, they advance to Silver with 10% discount

  3. When they spend €500, they advance to Gold with 15% discount

  4. Discount is applied automatically with every purchase

The new tier takes effect from the next purchase. If a customer just reached Silver, the current purchase still uses the Bronze discount.

Menu Setup: Which Products Collect Stamps or Points

After connecting with Papaya, you need to set up which products customers collect stamps or points for. The process is simple.

Syncing Menu from Papaya

  1. In VEXiON admin interface, select the location

  2. Click "Synchronize menu"

  3. Wait a moment – the system loads all products from your Papaya POS

  4. A table with all your products appears

What if customer has €8 cashback but the bill is only €6?

Cashback covers the entire bill (€6) and the remainder (€2) stays on the card for the next purchase.

Do I need to train staff?

Training takes about 5 minutes. Staff learns to click ZLAVA/PRIRAZKA, scan the card, and check the message.

Can I use decimal numbers for stamps?

No. Use only whole numbers (1, 2, 3...). Decimal numbers are not supported.
